POSCO Research Institute publishes Volume 3 of Asian Steel Watch, a bi-annual English journal specialized in the Asian steel industry.

    On June 30, POSCO Research Institute published Volume No. 3 of 'Asian Steel Watch,' an English journal specialized in the Asian steel industry. Founded in January 2016, Asian Steel Watch is the only English journal specialized in the steel industry at home and abroad that provides information on the Asian steel market.

     

    ▶ On June 30, POSCO Research Institute published Volume No. 3 of 'Asian Steel Watch'.

     

    The cover story of this volume is 'Future Megatrends and the Steel Industry.' It provides an in-depth analysis of the impact of existing trends such as urbanization, motorization, globalization and industrialization, and the emerging trends, i.e. global climate action and the 4th Industrial Revolution, affecting the main steel-consuming industries, that is, the automotive industry, the shipbuilding industry, the construction industry and the energy industry, and forecasts changes in the steel industry over the next 20 years.

     

    Also, the interview with John J. Ferriola, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nucor Corporation, and also Chairman of World Steel Association, presents the trends and forecasts of the US steel industry, the problems facing the global steel industry and solutions. In addition, the special contribution of Prof. Peter Warrian, the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto, introduces Autosteel and the New Materials Competition.

     

    Aside from this, this volume covers the Impact of Sino-Indian Economic Cooperation on the Indian Steel Industry, and the Chinese steel industry looking for new ways forward, e.g. exports and overseas investments, through 'One Belt, One Road.' It is expected to play a big role in enhancing the POSCO family's understanding of the trends in the Asian steel industry.
